New Hobby Lobby Gift Card!

Guess what? Hobby Lobby has a new spring gift card! I couldn't resist, I had to make more bracelets. I've got to tell you though, the cashiers at Hobby Lobby are getting a little cranky with me. First I buy the gift cards for $10.00 on each and then turn around and pay for my stuff with them. They used to be so friendly and talk to me when I walked in the door, now they run and hide and argue over who has to help me. I think I better work on making different disguises to wear!

I found a couple of blog hops today that look like fun and I'm going to go play in.

Bottle Cap Necklace

I'm probably going to rehab with Charlie Sheen. While they're working on getting the crazies out of his head, I'll be in the next room getting the Dimensional Magic pryed out of my hands! I moved on to bottle caps now.

It's really not my fault. Those bottle caps and pretty little stickers were calling my name the other day.

I glued the pink paper down first and then stuck the sticker on and added the Dimensional Magic.

I really wasn't sure how it would work, but it did what it was supposed to. I love when things work out that way!

I glued a bail on the back, added a jump ring and leather cording.

I'm making my weekly trip to JoAnn's today. Anybody need anything while I'm there?

Peace Washers

I promise, after this I'll put the punches and washers away for awhile! I had to do one more thing though, because I found these awesome buttons the other day.

I came home and mod-podged some more washers.

I glued the buttons on the back and added a bail.

Then I just snipped off that little ring thing.

Added the cording and cute jump rings I also found that day.

Easy Washer Tutorial

I've had several people ask me how I cut my circles for my washer necklaces. I'll show you first how I used to do it and then I'll show you the easiest and most brilliant discovery I have ever made! Wow, that sounded bad, didn't it?

I would take the washer and trace around it.

I cut around the outside using regular scissors, but found it easier to cut the inside with my little sewing scissors. That was how I used to do it. Then I found these and made my life a whole lot simpler!

My washers are just a hair bigger than 1 1/4" and the hole is 3/4". I found circle punches that size.

Cut the small hole first and make sure you turn the punch over so you can see where you want the hole to go.

Line up the paper in the big punch and center your hole.

Wa-la! Perfect circle! You're going to love this! Once you start, you'll be punching everything!

These are the only two things I use to put the paper on.

Put a coat of Mod Podge on the paper and put it on the washer. When it dries, add a coat over the top. Make sure you get to the edges to seal it.

Put the Dimensional Magic over the top. I start from the outside all the way around and move to the inside. If you happen to get any bubbles, just pop them with a pin or toothpick. Before I start, I always put a little dab on the paper first to get any air bubbles out and that seems to help.

I use leather cording and put the washer on it by looping the ends through.

Add a little wood bead and tie a knot at the end. I know that cord looks crinkly, but it just came off the roll and that goes away.

If I'm going to get any other crafting (not to mention cleaning or cooking) done, somebody needs to hide my Dimensional Magic!

It's just too much fun with the stash of washers and paper scraps I have!

All I have to do is Mod-Podge the paper on and them put on the Dimensional Magic. What could be simpler? See, how can I stop?

Gift Card Bracelet

Brandon, my sweet son, gave me this for Christmas.

Of course, it didn't take me long to use up the gift card and I made sure I left a few cents on it so they would give it back to me. Then I turned it into this:

I marked the size of the squares and cut it out of the middle of the paper.

It was so much easier doing it that way so I could see what I was tracing.

I tried to get Hobby Lobby where I could and then hearts. I've got to tell you, I was just looking at hearts and not the words around it. You've probably already spotted it, if not, I'll show you later.

There's my 7 little squares. (Still didn't notice.)

Glued them all in.

I filled the squares with Dimensional Magic. This was my first time using that. How fun is it?! You just have to make sure you are very patient and let it dry a day. That was my hardest part, not touching it.

Okay, now I noticed! Look at the first and fifth charms! How in the world did I miss that? Oh well, I still love it and have already worn it a couple of times. I see a necklace and earrings to match in my future. Hey Brandon, Mothers Day is coming soon!
