Ribbon Washer Necklace

I found this tutorial the other day and knew I had to try it!

I literally sat in front of the computer with my washers and ribbon and did it. It was confusing at first, but once you've added a few washers it all makes sense.

It's so easy and fast once you catch on. I want to try my next one using t-shirt strips instead of ribbon.

I'll let you know if it works out.

Being a Grandma, I have to show you one picture from yesterday. The kids were all outside playing and I made them take another picture (they thought I was done with the camera). I lined them all up and before I snapped, I told them to say, "Hobby Lobby". This is what I got!

Why are they all cracking up?

It's not really football season....

but I still needed a cute little frame for Jace's picture.

I found wooden frames at Michaels for $1.00! They come plain, so I painted it black.



Then I mod-podged football paper on the top of the frame and the cardboard that was it it.



I added some ribbon and the champion sticker and of course, little Jace. Just a family side note, Greg's number was 11 when he played football. You wouldn't believe how proud that Papa was when we went to his games to watch him play!

Book Page Easter Eggs

Jordyn was here the other day and we joined the "Mod-Podge Easter eggs with book pages" bandwagon. I've got to tell you, I was so happy she wanted to do this because I don't think I would have had the patience!

We found the eggs packed away and she went to work!



Bless her heart, she was even sick, but she wanted to craft.

Shamrock Shirt

Krissi had a field trip with Triniti Friday, so Tierni spent the afternoon with us. Two minutes after she was here, her shirt was "itchy". She told me to just go make her a new one. Thank God, I had already bought green little t-shirts to put a shamrock on. I just didn't think it would be while she was here!

And guess what? It wasn't itchy!

I knew I couldn't sit on the computer and find a shamrock pattern, so I just drew 3 hearts with a stem. Now you all know, I am not an artist and cannot draw!

After hers was done, we went back and made Triniti's. Yep, she looks all innocent there, that's because Papa is taking her picture. What you don't see is all the unwound bobbins on the floor by our feet!

Sunflower Magnet

Everybody, right now at the same time, put your hand on your head and say,"Why didn't I think of that?". I'm doing the same thing because I didn't think of it. My 12 year old granddaughter, Jalynn, did! She told me she was bored one day and found some old silk sunflowers.

She took that middle brown thing out and glued on a magnet she had.

All she did then was take the other magnet and stuck it to it.

They are now a permanent fixture on my refrigerator! I know I'm her grandma and extremely prejudiced, but isn't she brilliant?

A Heart for Jordyn

I really don't know what to call this. It's not reverse applique. It's probably faux chenille not done right. I'll explain later. I found a long sleeve navy shirt I bought at Hobby Lobby on sale one time and stuck away. It's Jordyn's size, so she needs a valentine shirt.

Here's what I did.

I cut out 5 layers of the heart pattern I made.

I marked the top heart with lines about 3/4" apart and then pinned the 5 layers to the front of the shirt.

I sewed down the lines but not around the hearts.

Now you start cutting between all the stitches. I cut all 5 layers because I wanted to see the navy between the rows. If you were doing faux chenille, you wouldn't cut the bottom layer. By the way, if you don't have one of these nifty (nifty? What old lady just said that?) scissors, you need to run, don't walk to JoAnns and buy a pair. I bought them when I started doing rag quilts and don't know how I lived without them.

All cut up, throw in the washer so it gets all raggy looking.

We took this picture right after I finished it so it hadn't been washed yet.

Happy Birthday, Triniti!

Triniti is 6 today so we made a little trip to Build a Bear. The girls and I had such a great time. I sure wish I had invented that place!

Move Over, Terri...

There's a new Creative Princess in town! This is totally Jordyn's post. We had the pleasure of having the kids spend last Saturday with us. Greg and I had a lot of running around to do and we dragged them along with us and they never complained once! We stopped at the Dollar Store because I was looking for little Styrofoam balls and didn't find them, but they found those things that expand in water. We finally got home and they wanted to try them out. Jordyn decided it would be good for the blog. Remember as you are looking at these pictures, Jordyn took them all. She took pictures of every step. I'm telling you, she's good!

She had Jalynn show them before she put them in the water.

There were probably a hundred pictures of this. I narrowed it down to one. Your welcome.

Jace and I decided that Styrofoam looked like it could be Jurassic Park and he started coloring it for all the little dinosaurs. Sorry, camera broke and we don't have any pictures of that. Your welcome, again.

American Girl Doll Clothes

Because I'm back into full time crafting now, I decided to make everyone one thing handmade this year. I'm old to crafting, but new to blogging so I made everything and wrapped it up and didn't take any pictures of half the things I made. Jordyn gave me her Christmas list about 3 months ago and kept checking with me to see if I still had it. She wanted another American Girl doll, the soccer outfit, and the get well kit (crutches, cast, wraps, etc). I ordered it all and when it came I decided she needed a little sweat suit, too. It was too late to order one and get it back in time, so I made one. Don't get too excited, this was my first and probably last time of making doll clothes. Have you ever tried to put a zipper in a little jacket? Anyway, I found a grey sweatshirt we had laying around and a red jersey, so I made it all out of that.

I didn't make Jordyn's. After I finished the dolls, I was out shopping the day before Christmas to find Jordyn a grey sweatsuit with a red shirt to match. She had to have one!

All the frustration I had making those clothes for her new doll was well worth it. As soon as she had opened all her presents, Jordyn went and changed and then changed her new doll.

This is why I love being a grandma! Look at that little face!

As I'm looking at these pictures, I need to do a post on the old lamp post shade that is sitting on the fireplace. One of my blogging heroes, Donna, from Funky Junk Interiors would be so proud of me for that!

Jalynn, This One's For You!

We had the absolute pleasure of attending Jalynn's first band concert Thursday night. I was especially proud because I was in band (a long time ago). I know now how Greg, Josh, and Jennifer feel when they watch the kids play in all their sports. You see, they are all athletic and it must make them so proud to watch the little ones compete in the same sports that they excelled in. I think it goes without saying that I am not and never have been athletic, which is why this concert was extra special for me. Greg even had to tell me a couple of times to quit tapping my foot along with the music as the kids were doing. He's just darn lucky I didn't sit up straight with my feet in front of me when the conductor got onto the podium! Anyway, here's a few pictures. Enjoy!!!
